What month do they hunt alligators in Louisiana?

Mareno's hunts alligators in September and October, and the first three weeks of September are the best dates. Louisiana's commercial season runs later than that; we stop when the water cools and the gators stop feeding.

Can non-residents hunt alligators in Louisiana?

Yes. Your tag is included in the hunt. You buy a nonresident alligator hunting license from LDWF, $150 at the time of writing, and bring it with you.

Can you hunt wild hogs in Louisiana at night?

Yes, on private property with the landowner's permission and the parish sheriff notified in advance. That is how every Mareno's thermal hunt runs. You need a Basic Hunting License.

Is it legal to hunt coyotes at night in Louisiana?

On private land, yes, under the same rules as hogs. Our coyote hunts are night hunts with thermal optics and electronic calls.

How much does a nutria hunting guide cost?

Mareno's nutria hunts are $400 per person and run in February and March. Bring more ammunition than you think you need.

Alligator hunts

One commercial tag per hunter, basic meat cleaning included, and the option to take more animals on the same trip if tags are available. We run the first three weeks of September, when the water is warm and the gators are feeding. Rain or shine, because the law says the lines get checked.

Nutria hunts

South Louisiana marsh, a boat full of shooters, and more targets than you have shells. Nutria wreck the marsh, the state wants them gone, and a good February trip runs past a hundred animals. There is nothing else like it in the country.

Hogs tearing up your ground?

Feral hogs cost Louisiana farms and timber about $91 million a year, and they do not stop on their own. If they are on your Louisiana property, call Ryan. We run removal hunts on private ground with the landowner's permission and the sheriff notified, and we tell you plainly what it will take.
